‘THE DEAD DROP’ – available now through blurb.com
After briefly reaching the dizzying heights of Kindle’s Top Ten, ‘The Dead Drop’ is slowly settling back into obscurity, but this doesn’t have to be the case. Fever pitch excitement allows me to offer you this choice, today only. You can skip the political rant below and go straight to the links! No obligation and no pressure; maybe a gentle peruse will pull you from your daily snooze…
Back in August, the US self publishing service CreateSpace, merged with Kindle Direct Publishing (KDP). Amazon owns both services, but up until July 2018, CreateSpace offered print on demand and shipping to Australia. Back then our Treasurer, Scott Morrison, decided to increase the online GST, forcing Amazon.com to introduce the current ban. The Australian Amazon site pales in comparison in both content and value, but crucially, it doesn’t offer any self publishing tools or platforms. These facts aside, our government will still have you believe that this tax now ‘levels the playing field.’ It has literally leveled mine and hundreds of others, so thanks for that Mr Morrison.
Australia’s Independent Authors have been shafted by yet another LNP money grab. Books by self-published authors account for almost ten percent of all Australian literature produced every year. I guess next year those figures will be a bit different.
The eBook format of my current releases are still available through Kindle Direct, but as of January 19th 2019, hardcover and paperback copies will be available ONLY through Blurb.com. This includes prompt shipping of a superior product which frankly, Amazon.com, you constantly failed to deliver.
I see Mr Morrison procured himself a new job though, so, every cloud…
